This concert was blessed with very good timing since it featured a top-drawer NIU ensemble and three renowned, agile, veteran guest soloists. Ron Modell's humor and artist/tune introductions left the audience relaxed and well informed. And his unexpected last-track vocal expressions came as a complete surprise to the receptive Rialto attendees.The Alan Hood-Conte Candoli battle on "A Night In Tunsia" is tumult supreme and likely the evening's highlight for most. Eleven different writers should provide enough color and tempo variations to satisfy the most demanding fans.
